Property development is all about navigating challenges and seizing opportunities, and our June 2024 SEPDC session at the Lion Inn was no exception. Packed with expert insights on planning, Green Belt considerations, and affordable housing, the day provided practical strategies and real-world examples to help developers stay ahead in a competitive industry.
Matthew Wood kicked things off with an in-depth look at the planning process, focusing on Green Belt considerations, affordable housing opportunities, and updates on permitted development. His emphasis on the importance of pre-application inquiries offered practical advice for navigating these often-complex processes.
Following this, Tony Hawes, with over three decades of industry experience, shared his insights into the broader property development landscape. His expertise highlighted strategies and challenges that resonate with developers working across diverse projects. Tony Grisdale then presented a detailed overview of his recent Southend development, providing a real-world example of how to tackle obstacles and deliver successful outcomes.
After a productive morning, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch at the Lion Inn, which allowed time for networking and informal discussions. We wrapped up the day with a “challenges and opportunities” session, where attendees shared their experiences and discussed strategies to address industry trends and issues.
It was another engaging and informative SEPDC meeting—thank you to everyone who contributed to making it a success. These discussions continue to help us navigate the complexities of property development with clarity and collaboration.
