It can be hard when setting up your property business to know exactly why you are doing it and what you want out of the business. The best resource on this is The classic ‘Seven habits of highly effective people’ , by Stephen Covey.
It’s not a quick read, and it’s not about finding quick hacks to ‘manage your time better’. It’s about thinking really hard about what you want out of life and then using that to drive your daily actions, while keeping sight of the big picture.
Yes, I know this is a lot to take on when you are starting a property business, but some hard thought at this stage may well avoid some blind alleys and wasted time and effort.
Part of this exercise is to set 1, 3, 5 and 10 year goals. These won’t necessarily stay the same year to year, but if you don’t sit down and think carefully about where you want to be at these stages of your life, how can you possibly expect to get where you want to be in 10 years time?
